Hey Hey! Listen this makes 3 new blogs in a week! I’m on a roll lately! I have about a million sessions this January as your Prosper newborn photographer, but it seems like they are all toward the end of the month. I’ve got some time on my hands and I plan to knock out galleries early, while also getting in some blogging time.
Toddlers and Newborn Photography
A lot of the families who come to this Prosper newborn photographer, also have a toddler. It makes sense, right? There are a lot of moms out there choose to have their babies closer together, which means they’re going to have a toddler with them at their newborn session. Now, if you are a mom of a toddler, say 2 and under, you know that they are strong willed and have big opinions of their own. Are they going to sit in your arms and smile real big for your pictures? Probably not. Do we have ways to trick them into smiling or being engaged with their siblings? Absolutely! This big sister took a minute to warm up, but once she did, my goodness we got some cute ones!
The Brutally Honest Truth about Toddler Siblings and Newborn Photography
That said, I want to be honest with you. My first kiddo wanted absolutely nothing to do with his new baby brother. I mean, he didn’t want to be in the same room with him. so when it came time for newborn pictures, guess what? He wasn’t in any of them. Literally, zero. I take that back. I might have bribed him to be in one picture with a cookie, but I vaguely remember not loving that one shot. SO! We can try all the songs, bribes, and games in the world, but some toddlers will just not have it! This is my opinion, but I just think that sometimes their whole little worlds have been rocked! When all the tricks and games fail, on rare occasions, there is just nothing we can do to win their smiles. So, just go into it with an open heart, and know your toddler! Set your expectations based on what they are okay with at home!
And that Dress!
Can we put that dress in the spotlight for a minute? I am so in love with Mom’s dress from Needle and Thread! Isn’t it stunning? I asked to buy it from her RIGHT after she sold it. Darn the bad luck, right? I have a couple other from this brand in my studio wardrobe, but I’d love to have this one, too! I’m still working on finding another one.
