Okay Mama whatever you do, don’t blink! Before you know it your tiny baby will be celebrating their first birthday like this sweet girl! Mom and Dad are some of the kindest people, I absolutely loved having them visit my studio in McKinney for their little girl’s first birthday cake smash.
While milestone sessions are always a little bittersweet, it’s such a joy to document this season of life for families. Kids change so much over the course of a year!
Before letting the birthday girl dig into her cake, we snuck in a few quick family portraits. It’s so important to me to include the whole family, even if baby is the star of the show for most of the session!
I still can’t get over baby girl’s beautiful brown eyes- just like Mama’s! Once we snapped a few portraits with each parent, it was cake time. We had such a fun time seeing her reaction to the frosting… even if she wasn’t feeling the hat at the end!
First Year Milestone Session | Cake Smash
You just never know what kids are going to think about the smash cake during first birthday sessions. Some kids really dig into the frosting while others are not a fan at all.
This birthday girl wasn’t too sure at first! When in doubt, I ask Mom and Dad to let baby feed them some cake. This usually gets the best reactions from everyone! Needless to say, we had a lot of laughs during this session.
For styling, I loved the dresses Mom chose from home for her and the birthday girl. We added the floral headband from my Client Wardrobe and it looked adorable on her!
