When should I book for lifestyle newborn photography?
The biggest tip that I can offer you is to book your newborn session in your second trimester. At the very latest, you can book early in your third trimester. In order to be sure that I have space for you in my calendar, you’ll want to reserve your due date ahead of time. (More about what this means, below!) I take a maximum of four newborns per month, which means my schedule will fill up quickly!
What exactly does a lifestyle newborn photography mean?
A lifestyle session can truly mean something different to all photographers, but to me it just means that I am not using newborn posing equipment. The babies are photographed in more natural poses like them laying in their crib, or swaddled on your rug. (One of my favorites!) Cribs, changing tables, gliders, and rugs are perfect for lifestyle sessions! Typically, it’s also a session done in your home and nursery, but we also could use a studio rented by the hour. A lifestyle session is great for showing off your nursery.
If I don’t know when the baby will be born, how do we schedule my lifestyle newborn session?
Since you reserved your session long before your baby was born, I will be ready and expecting your call as soon as your baby is born. At that time, we will schedule a date and time for your lifestyle newborn. I recommend scheduling your session between days 7 and 14 for the perfect sleepy baby newborn pictures. My nursery isn’t actually ready, do we have to have my session in my home?
Absolutely not. Some of my clients choose to use a studio for many reasons! Maybe you’re renting, you don’t want to clean up with a newborn and toddler, your home doesn’t get the best natural light, or maybe you just don’t love your wall color! There are studios all around the DFW metroplex that we can rent by the hour. They are very affordable, have plentiful natural light, and generally will give you that perfect light & airy look!
