What to Bring for Your Fort Worth Fresh 48

There is a softness to those first hours with your baby that never leaves you. The world feels quieter, the hospital room turns into a tiny cocoon, and every detail becomes something you want to remember forever. As a Fresh 48 photographer in Fort Worth, I love walking into that space and helping families hold on to the beginning of their story. A little preparation simply makes the experience easier and more relaxed.

If you are wondering what to bring, here is a simple packing list for your Fresh 48 session, whether you are delivering at Texas Health Fort Worth, Baylor Scott and White, Fort Worth Methodist, or Fort Worth Birthing & Wellness Center.

Fresh 48 Packing List

  • A robe or comfortable layer for mom– These sessions happen shortly after delivery, so comfort matters. A robe or lightweight cardigan photographs beautifully and allows you to feel confident without effort. Creams, neutrals, or soft tones are always lovely.
  • A tiny gift for siblings– If big brothers or sisters plan to visit, a small surprise helps them feel celebrated. Their pride and excitement often lead to the sweetest photos of all.
  • A fitted outfit for baby– For Fresh 48 photos, snug, neutral or pastel colored outfits always photograph best. Choose something that allows feet to peek out so we can capture those tiny wrinkles and curled toes. Skip anything oversized or busy.
  • A stretchy swaddling blanket– Stretchy swaddles are my top recommendation for Fresh 48 photography. They wrap smoothly, keep baby comfortable, and avoid the bulky look that stiff or structured blankets can have. The one exception is the BBC bow swaddle, which always photographs beautifully. Some of my favorites include Kyte baby, Lou Lou & Company, as well as Caden Lane.
  • A blanket or cover for the bassinet– Those clear hospital bassinets are timeless, but adding a soft sheet or muslin over the mattress creates a calm, clean background and helps to make everything look a tiny bit more elevated. Light neutrals or pastels keep the focus right where it belongs, on your baby.
  • A small banner or name sign for baby– One of my favorite Fresh 48 session ideas is a simple name sign placed near the bassinet. It makes your first announcement feel intentional and personal.

Reserve your Own Hospital Newborn Portraits

Fresh 48 sessions are tender, emotional, and beautifully unposed. They document the beginning, exactly as it is. If you are delivering in Fort Worth and want to schedule a Fresh 48 session at Texas Health Fort Worth, Baylor Scott and White, Fort Worth Methodist, or Fort Worth Birthing & Wellness Center, I would be honored to meet you there and capture those first unforgettable hours.

Customize your Session with your Complete Story

Many families also choose to combine their Fresh 48 session with a maternity session or a full newborn session that includes family portraits. It creates a complete story, beginning with the quiet anticipation of pregnancy and stretching into those first tender days at home. Maternity photos capture the love that grew before your baby arrived, while a full newborn session gives you relaxed, beautifully styled images of your entire family together. Pairing all three gives you a collection of memories that feel whole, connected, and impossible to forget.

Photography has always been a passion of mine, but more than that, it’s about connection. I treasure the honest, often candid moments — the ones that tell your story — and turning them into lasting, tangible memories your family will hold onto for years to come.
