If this is your first family or newborn session, you might be wondering what “lifestyle” newborn portraits are, or why I would call myself a Dallas lifestyle newborn photographer. You see, there are very different style of photography out there. For example, you’ll find photographers out there whose style is what we call dark and moody. You’ll also find photographers whose style is posed and formal. Even further, you’ll find newborn photographers who only photograph in their studio or outdoors for family work. I ran into ALL of that when I was doing exactly what you are right now and it was so hard to choose!! Because of those struggles, I offer both studio AND in-home sessions! So then HOW do you choose? Well friends, let’s talk about that!
First, let’s briefly talk about what a Dallas lifestyle newborn photographer is! The short version is that Lifestyle newborn portraits are “unposed.” That just means that I don’t bring my props, posing beanbag and anything that you see in my studio work. My in-home sessions focus more on your sweet baby in their real environment like your room, the living room, and their nursery!
Top 4 Reasons to Choose a Lifestyle Newborn Session
- Comfort
- Your Style
- You don’t have to leave the house!
- Yes, you still get to use my wardrobe!
Comfort
Your home is by far the most comfortable place! An in-home session is a fabulous way to be low key and cozy. If this is not your first baby, your kiddos (i.e. toddlers) will be in their element! They won’t be nervous in a new place and will be likely to interact with you and the baby in fairly natural ways. There is truly less prompting from me with older siblings when we are in their home! They just kind of do their thing!
Your Style
My favorite thing about sessions in your home is that inner Chip & Jo is going to shine! That brand new nursery is going to be beautiful and I just know you want to show it off! Super cool living room? Yep, let’s go there! Decked out master bedroom? I’m all in! The unique style of your home will make your session truly one of a kind! It can’t be recreated and that makes your session so bittersweet! These are the walls that welcome your new baby. That memory is so beautiful, isn’t it? Gosh, those are the things I want to share with my own babies, too! {Note to self: go take more pictures at home!}
You Don’t Have to Leave the House!
Ok, let me be real! It is HARD to leave the house with a brand new baby. If I’m being honest, I’m pretty sure we were late everywhere we went for the first 3 months. My hair and make-up friends will even come to your home if you’re interested in that! An in-home session is definitely easier in terms of rushing out the door. {Should I mention the con here? The *one* con to an in-home session is that you will likely need to de-clutter. If you’re like me– that just means throwing things in a closet, but hey– it works!}
Yes, You still get to use my wardrobe!
One of the things that I hear most often from moms as feedback is that they LOVE the my client wardrobe. I know that shopping is so tough. I take the guesswork out of what to wear by providing you with beautiful options in sizes XS-XXL. When you look through my IG and website, almost all of the dresses you see belong to my wardrobe. I have plenty to bring with me to your session! Newborn headbands, hats, and wraps are all part of my wardrobe that I would love to bring with me.
