What to Wear for your Family Session | Textures, Pastels, and Florals

For warm weather sessions here in Dallas, it’s all about flowy dresses and breathable fabrics. Linen is one of my favorite fabrics (for Dad especially) because it’s breathable and adds some texture.

Another thing I look for with styling is soft pastel colors because so many beautiful options start making their way to shelves around this time of year. If you keep the color families in mind (as seen in the little circles!), it will help you keep everyone coordinated without introducing too many colors to your styling.

I am pretty certain there is nothing better than a baby in a bubble! Wouldn’t that green floral bubble be SO sweet? As you can see I tend to keep Dad and boys in neutral tones. This lets the girls bring in color and floral patterns.

Cool toned colors in blues, greys, and whites are so classic for family sessions. I especially love these colors photographed in our local Dallas parks. The green of the grass and blue tones are so pretty!

Pro tip: When putting Dad in chinos for this color combination, be sure to pick pants that are more cool toned. Some khaki tones can look too yellow for this look.

This outfit below might be my favorite outfit inspiration! It’s a little more casual with Dad in a henley. I also love the blue shirt with the sleeves rolled up on a toddler.

The smocked floral midi dress for Mom is great because she can bend and play with kids without worrying about the dress flying up. How sweet would a mother-daughter photo be with baby girl in that blue dress?! Sign me up!
