What to Wear
The Woodlands Newborn Photographer
Hey Y’all! I know that you loved my previous what to wear post, so let’s talk about what to wear for my newborn clients!
Newborn sessions are a bit unique because they are in your home. We have to consider the colors in your home so that your outfits coordinate well. I always recommend neutral colors because they are timeless and classic. You will look back on your newborn photographs many times! I want you to look back and still think that you look great! Neutral and pastel colors are perfect for that. Try to avoid any bold or bright colors, but soft florals are gorgeous!
Texture is the key to interest and variation in your clothing. Mamas, I highly recommend a loose fitting, flowy dress. Maxi dresses are my top choice! I have found that flowy garments are actually very flattering to most body types, but especially a postpartum mama. Lace, linen, ruffles, and embroidery are the perfect pops of texture! Pink Blush, Fillyboo, and Alter’D State have great options with beautiful texture and flow.
Also, I really challenge you to find something for Dad to wear that has texture to it! A nice sweater would look great and be comfortable!
Check out those adorable suspenders! Don’t you just love how cute they look on him?
Siblings are so much fun to dress, but resist the temptation to have everyone perfectly matching. The goal is actually to complement each other. I’m in love with boutique children’s clothing. The quality can’t be beat! Check out these favorites and email me for a complete and up to date list!
I’m a big fan of supporting small businesses, and I try to shop small when I can. However, sometimes I know we need to find something quick! Boys clothing is also a bit harder to find! Gap Kids usually carries classic outfits for all ages as well as great colors. They are one of my top choices for children’s clothes! Old Navy also has great clothing for kids AND great prices! If you are shopping in the spring, they have great pastel colors!
Keep it simple! I know that probably sounds odd, but your baby will look great and be comfortable in a simple plain onesie! Monica + Andy has fantastic newborn clothing for your little one! They have everything from onesies to rompers! Again, Baby Gap has great hats, onesies, and simple footie outfits. They almost always have a great selection of them in the stores, too!
Don’t forget a cute hat! Check out Knots baby hats! They’re absolutely precious to use for a couple shots of your little one!
